All essay types have their own peculiarities and develop different skills. We present you the most commonly used essay types:
1. Descriptive essay. The purpose of this essay type is to describe an object, a person, a place, an event, etc. You think it is a five minutes work? Ok. Can you take a dare and write an essay, describing someone’s eyes? You have to possess certain skills and creativeness to write this kind of essay. You think it is meaningless task? Your beloved will be surprised to hear an amazing description of his/her eyes…
2. Explanation essay. The purpose of this essay type is to clear up the issue in a brief and coherent way. Imagine that you are a teacher and you have to introduce new rules and explain how they work. It is a hard task. Explanation essay can help you develop this skill.
3. Persuasive or argumentative essay. The purpose of this essay type is to make other agree to your viewpoint, argument and accept your way of thinking. Why is it important? So, now imagine that you are a lawyer. Any other objections?
4. Research essay. The main purpose of this essay type is to help you carry out a research, work with different types of information, and draw your own conclusions. This kind of work will develop skills you can apply when writing a dissertation.
5. Evaluation essay. The main purpose of this essay type is to give your opinion on the book, article, movie, etc. You can agree or fully disagree on the issue. Don’t you want to put up a good show when discussing a new bestseller?
6. Literary essay. The main purpose of this essay type is to reduplicate the material you have read and analyze it.
As you can see, different essay types develop different skills. When getting an assignment to write an essay, do your best. Practice makes perfect!
