The purposes of writing an essay can vary greatly. We present you only the most commonly written essay types:

•    The purpose of writing a descriptive essay is to describe an object, a person, a place, etc. You may use different methods for describing something in your essay. You may choose fresh and vivid language or provide interesting and catching examples. You can describe something ordinary, but compare it with an extraordinary. Remember that your job is to show, but not tell.

•    One of the most challenging essay types is a persuasive/argumentative essay. Persuasive writing is not an easy skill to master. It is not an easy task to convince the reader to agree with your opinion about something. It is not enough just to state your thoughts. You have to provide convincing arguments and sufficient evidence.
•    The purpose of writing an explanation essay is to explain precisely and clearly your point of view.
•    A literature essay should retell the material you have read or studied. To be able to write this essay type, you should be familiar with the material quite well. Your analyzing skills are required.
•    Narrative essay. The purpose of narrative writing is to tell a story, reflect or explore the author’s values presented as a story.
