Types of Essays

There exist a lot of essay types. Your essay structure and organization will depend on the essay type which you will choose. In this article we will describe the most widely used essay types.

Expository essay

This is an essay type which describes or explains some idea.
There are two types of the expository essays.
The first type is a descriptive essay. This type of essay requires that the writer was able to create a mental picture in reader’s mind. You will have to write a very detailed composition, mentioning you feelings and impressions. It is preferable to use expressive tone for this essay type.

The second type of the expository essays is an informative essay. This type of writing also requires putting a lot of details in the text, but the preference is given to the facts but not the writer’s feelings and emotions.

Narrative essay   

The purpose of such essay is to entertain the readers. Such type of essay may be presented by means of a fairy tail or personal narration. You do not depict some real facts and events. The preference has to be given to the interesting and captivating plot.

Persuasive essay

The persuasive essay more often expresses by listing of pros and cons of some phenomenon. The writer’s task is to assure or to reassure the readers in some idea or belief. The writer is not allowed to refer only to his/her point of view. The arguments which you use to prove or disprove some idea have to be based on concrete facts.
