Essay Types Distinctions

Before writing any essay, you should have clear understanding of what types of an essay exist and what are the main essay types’ distinctions?

In this connection, we are going to speak about the main essay types and their distinctions.

Descriptive essay. In the descriptive essay you are supposed to give a clear description of a thing, object, event, feeling, emotion, etc. which a writer wants to present to a reader. A writer should express his or her thoughts in such a way, so that the reader will imagine the described object in minor details.

Argumentative essay. In the argumentative essay you should, first of all, choose the argument, which will be possible to discuss. Your duty as a writer is to provide all the opinions, which exist as for this problem, but you are not allowed to express your own. A general objective tone is characteristic of an argumentative essay.

Persuasive essay. In contrast to argumentative essays, in persuasive essays you should express your own opinion. More than that your duty is to convince the reader of your own point of view as for the discussed problem.

Compare and contrast essay. In this type of an essay you are supposed to choose two or more objects, so that you will be able to draw the similarity and the difference between them, which is the main purpose of your compare and contrast essay.

Of course, these essay types are not the least, but they are the most widespread among the academic assigned one. So, now I hope, you will not confuse any of the essay types and, thereby, will be a success.
