The Types of Essay

You will be facing with several essay types during your educational years. That is why you need to know dissimilarity of these essay types in order to cope with creating them greatly.

1. Expository essay is one of essay types that gives instructions or directions about how to make an assignment, or how something is done.
2. Cause or effect essay concentrates on a situation or condition and asks why (cause) or what is the outcome (effect)
3. Definition essay defines a problem both abstractly and concretely.
4. Comparison or contrast essay shows the similarities or differences between two persons, things, places, ideas, etc.
5. Pro/con or argumentative essay. Your point of view on a problem is argued grounded on understanding and reasoning.
6. Literary analysis essay concentrates on your observations about a particular book, poem, story, or play.
7. Character analysis essay concentrates on your observations about a particular character in literature. Your estimate of the character is grounded on what this character does, says, and/or what some other characters say about him.
8. Persuasive or argumentative essay makes a state or takes a stay and backs it up with expert opinions, statistics, and other proof.
9. Descriptive essay explains the “what, how, why, when, and where’s” of a problem.
10. Evaluation essay describes an event or thing and explains its significance, value, or/and relevance.
11. Narrative essay describes a story in a series of events. There must be some lesson, point, or thought gleaned from the narrative to make a work meaningful.
